Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about sober living, eligibility, and what to expect at Integrity Sober Homes.

Who is eligible for sober living at Integrity Sober Homes?
We welcome individuals who are committed to maintaining their sobriety and actively participating in a recovery program. For our men's locations, we partner extensively with Transformation House. We also facilitate placement for women's housing partners across Long Island. An initial phone screening is required to ensure a good fit.
How much does sober living cost? Who pays for it?
The cost of sober living is typically $800-$850 a month for most houses at the self-pay rate. While standard medical insurance is not accepted for housing costs, the Department of Social Services (DSS) in Nassau County and Suffolk County can provide housing vouchers.
How do I get a DSS housing voucher for sober living?
DSS housing vouchers typically kick in after 90 days of residency and need to be applied for by the member. Our house managers and team of case managers can help you in getting set up and guide you through the DSS application process to secure your funding.
What does a "12-Step Based" sober home mean?
It means our recovery model is rooted in the principles of 12-step fellowships (like AA or NA). Residents are required to attend regular meetings, obtain a sponsor, actively work the 12 steps, and contribute positively to the house culture.
What is the difference between a sober living house and rehab?
Rehab (inpatient treatment or detox) is a clinical, medically-supervised environment focused on the acute phase of quitting substances. A sober living house is an independent, community-based home environment meant for aftercare. We do not provide medical treatment, but rather a structured, substance-free place to live while you transition back into everyday life.
Is food included with sober living?
At Integrity Sober Homes, yes. We provide food at all of our homes for all of our guests, though policies may vary at other sober homes outside our network. Our priority is ensuring you have the nourishment you need to focus on your recovery.
What amenities and supplies are provided?
We believe recovery happens when you feel comfortable and at home. We completely provision each house with toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and basic amenities like fresh sheets, pillows, and blankets. All of our homes also feature central air conditioning and high-speed Verizon Fios internet.
Is transportation near the homes?
Yes, our homes in Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens are strategically located near major public transit hubs, including the LIRR and local bus routes, ensuring you can easily commute to work, outpatient programs, or meetings.
How do I apply for sober living?
The fastest way is to call us directly at 516-210-5049. Our intake coordinators will complete a brief phone screening to evaluate your current situation and quickly determine placement availability in our homes or partner network.

How Sober Living Complements Our Outpatient Programs

The strongest recovery plans don't treat housing and treatment as separate problems. When sober living and outpatient care work together, guests get both: a stable home environment and evidence-based clinical care.

IOP + structure:

A supportive home helps guests show up consistently for Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) schedules, groups, and accountability work.

MAT + stability:

For guests in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), sober living can reduce triggers and support medication adherence.

Recovery community:

House expectations (meetings, sponsorship, step-work) keep guests engaged in recovery supports between therapy sessions.
